i got my betta for a few months now...but i noticed that recently, as in 2 months ago i realised that my betta is swollen/bloated...not the whole body but jus the underneth of the stomach. i do not know if my betta has the pinecone look .but is eating, flaring well....and has even blowned bubble nests...well, that was for a few days ago...now my betta is just lazing at the side of the tank not moving around much unlike before...and is always at the bottom of the tank...pls help

ammonia:0
nitrite:0
nitrate:8ppm

u can see that just behind and underneth the mouth, it is a little bloated...i do not think it is constipation as my betta''s poo is normal

im putting him in a small tank when taking the pics as the main tank has plants and caves that makes it hard for me to take a pic

here are the pics

Crowntails are such pigs, they eat like mad.

Feed it a frozen pea (cook pea for a few mins, let cool, deshell it and smudge it in your fingers then feed to it.

hes nice :) probably just over feeding.. i feed mine 4 pellets in morning, 4 in evening and one day a week off any food. sometimes i try different stuff, like flake (never works!!)

I would just cut down on his feedings. Maybe stop feeding him for a day or 2, then just cut back on whatever you're giving him.

Are you sure he's not pineconing? It's hard to tell from the pics.

ok i'll try to fast for a day or 2...i cnt tell if he is pineconing or not...but from my google image search, it does not look anything like my betta's condition...

hiya, just noticied both my crowntails have this bulging stomach like this one, only just noticed it tonight so it cant have been like that for too long. the female was looking a bit podgy about 5 days ago but i just though that she may be carrying eggs (as advised on a website) but now the male is looking the same so i think that they may be overfeeding. i have recently lost a few fish due to fluctuating ph levels but reduced the food slightly, but now im thinking i may not have reduced it enough???

any ideas of what to try, should i half the food and try a pea as advised in other posts???

did this little fella get over it ok???

Hi! Don't know what happened to the original fish in this thread, but you should not feed your fish for one, maybe two days, then feed them a cooked pea (shelled and smooshed or minced into tiny tiny pieces). If there stomachs have not gone down 24 hours after that, feed a pea again. Let their stomachs go back down to normal before you resume feeding your normal food. You can try feeding less or soaking the pellets first to prevent constipation.
