Need help asap

I have what I believe to be a lion head goldfish, this morning when I woke up I noticed he had a black spot on the side of its head above his eye, almost like a bruise, Im hoping someone can help me recognize what this may be, I bought some medicine for him, but haven't used it for fear of doing something wrong and killing him

i've not had much experience with goldfish so it's a bit hard for me to tell. is it more like a bump or just coloration? i wouldn't use medication right away either. i'd wait until i knew what it was.
