i am just wondering if there are any cichlids i could keep in a 6.6 uk gallon tank +quantatee.i have limited time on the internet so cannot do much research for myself and am just wondering if anyone on here can give me any info on upkeep of this wonderful sp of fish.thew tank currently houses 1betta 3killifish [golden panchax] and one golden loach.
any info like, smallest size cichlid through to the prettiest coloured one would be very much appriciated, breeding info also would be helpfull (easiest to do so with+conditions)
i dont mean to sound all know it all (dont think i do lol?) or bulshy or any other thing like that (especially cruel) just ive been fish keeping for about 5 years now and have always wanted to delve into this side of fish keeping (just started a shrimp/snail tank also) only have a 30l and a 17l tank and want to make the most of them.i hope cichlids are an option (non of this ott stuff i.e 40l for 1 betta crap).
i think i could house 3-5 small cichlids (2inch or so if exist,5 fish at max)
just any info would be greatly appriciated.
thanks in advance

I cant think of anything that could fit in a tank that size and wouldnt rip a betta to shreds. The golden panchax get to big for a 6.6G and the loaches need to be in groups and get to big. What about replacing them with a group of Pygmy corys or Ember tetra or endlers.

cheers for checking the thread the loach is about 5 inches long betta about fully grown and killis are muture also they get on like a house on fire in this tank is planted just enough for cover if need be the betta plays with the panchax so well they basically kiss.plus all the fish would be removed to keep cichlids (any you could recommend) could soon be getting a 22g tank negotiations pending.

The "kiss" is probably them lip locking which isnt a good thing. Its like fighting to find outwhich one is the strongest. The tanks really not big enough for them. If you can get the 22G i would change the stocking about and go for
6.6G
1 Betta
6 Pygmy corys
3 Male Endlers

22G
3 Golden pahchax
5 Loaches
3 Apistogramma agassizii (1 male, 2 females) Or 2 Dwarf flag cichlids or 4 Checkerboard cichlids
8 Lemon tetra

i didnt put it across the way i wanted
they all get on perfect and have done for half a yr or more.
just wondering what cichlids could be kept in this tank.
or any cichlids that dont get bigger than 2inch in length
plus there stats and breeding habbits

I cant think of any cichlids that will work in a tank that size. Most cichlids even if they did fit in a tank that size would shred a betta.
