Hey good people, its been a while.

Narrowly avoided disaster, my pump motor (tetra 1200) wimped out, gradually not with a big bang. Now fixed but the lack of flow had snuck up on me. Had a lot of muck in the tank as a result, it
has upset the plants enough for me to justify a bit of a remodel.

Now im wondering, while in tank fiddle mode. I want to run the pump return to the far end of the tank (from the pump that's maybe an 8ft run). It would be prettier to do it in copper but I assume my shrimp and snails would take exception to that or am I wrong. I could also then incorporate a connection so I could use the pump as a hoover to keep the floor clean without draining the tank at the same time.

You don't want to use copper piping in an aquarium with invertebrates in, it never works out well.

You can use black poly pipe (irrigation tubing) from a hardware or nursery and it is easy to work with. Otherwise use pvc pipe and within a month it will be covered in algae and less noticeable.
