i just read the latest issue of AFM and in it they talk about starting a nano reef tank in a 10 gal is that possible?would a 20 be any better?
they also listed a few fish that would be"perfect"for this kind of setup like golden morey eels, blennies and damsels.i know that a large tank is better suited for this but i don't have the room so i'd like to look into this some more,do you guy's think it's worth a shot?
if so can you give me a list of things i should pick up to get this started, money is not a big deal coz i'm quite the bargain hunter :D but i ain't rich either :look:
oh! do i NEED a sump?how many gph should the skimmer be for a 20g?

thanks

Hi mostanks

I have to say that personally i am not the biggest fan of nano reefs, as fish keepers i think we should try to replicate as closely as possible the natural habitat, imo this doesnt include nano tanks :/ .

However it is possible,

A few pieces of liverock will make a nice aquascape and be benificial to filtration aswell am i right in thinking you are one of are one of our members from the USA if so i cant advise on specific equipment.

I would use a sump as this will increase the water volume and make it more stable. you could also put all equipment in the sump aswell,

Most, I wouldn't go as small as a ten. Lighting is real limited at this size. Go with at least a 15gal long, or a twenty. And I would have a sump if possible. Prepare to do a lot of DIY with a Nano. High tech stuff is real pricey for them.

thanks for the reply guy's,sorry i couldn't get back here sooner(was away snowboarding)
if i do decide to do a nano reef i'll proly only use a couple damsels and go with a 20 or 30g.either way i have alot of planning to do.

thanks for your help.
