Name This Plant

just went to the lfs and imagine our surprise when the usually slightly naff selection of plants (half of which aren't even aquarium plants) contained little tubs of java moss and riccia.... well we thought it was riccia anyway. Bought some cos it was only 1.25 for a little pot of it, on closer inspection I'm not convinced.

see from this pic of jimboo's (hope you don't mind me borrowing it!) it branches out like a tiny little tree.

Ours doesn't. It's strands up to about 7/8cm long with little leafy bits coming out each side every 0.5cm or so.

Just tried to get a pic but the camera batteries are dead. Will charge them up now so if no one knows I'll post a pic later.

Pellia endiviifolia - Liverwort/bladderwort perhaps?

nope, just googled it and it's not that. The strands are just a mm or two thick, perfectly round, the 'leaf' bits look just like the strands, you get them every half a cm or so and the 'leaves' come out on both sides at the same place and they're maybe half a cm long.

Crassula helmsii

Not exactly a true aquatic plant, more like a marsh plant...

yeah that's the stuff! thanks....... anyone know anything about it? we've just tried tying it to wood to do a sort of carpet thing? is it likely to work? if it's not really aquatic is it all just gonna die?

if it grows through the substrate it would be great i could do with some form of carpeting plant to run down the middle of my tank...

well see how it grows from the slate/bogwood its been tied too
