Hey All, I was wondering if you could identify this Bichir. I bought it a week ago, and I'm trying to figure out it is.

Thanks,

It’s an upper jaw species (upper jaw longer than lower jaw) so presumably P. senegalus senegalus, the most widespread and commonly sold species by far.

Either that or Bob, who I met in a nightclub in Sydney.

I was going to say Polypterus senegalus. I grabbed my atlas out and there is a picture of Polypterus Palmas. that looks very similar. It will be interesting to see what it grows into, if the color darkens I would say its P. Palmas.

P. palmas has dark blotches on the back and sides, and in the dorsal finlets.
