Mysterious Floating Plant Appeared!

I haven't added any fish or plants for weeks not but a mysterious floating plant has appeared. It is very small, with 2-3 leaves and a single root dangling down. Is it a propogation from another plant? The only plant with a similar leaf in my tank is rotala sp. Sorry about poor pic! What is it and where did it come from?

Oh dear, that looks like duckweed!

Get rid of it while you can, its very difficult to remove it completely, and grows very fast. See one of the previous posts about removing it from last week...

Remove it all. shake your plants to check if any is caught in amongst them.....

Thanks, I'll net it out (and dispose of it in the bin) and give the tank a good clean today/tomorrow. I thought it might be duckweed but as I haven't added anything to the tank in ages, I thought how could it get there! How did it manage to just suddenly arrive?

Yeh get as much out of the tank as possible, only when its at this stage do you really have any chance of removing it completely.
