My Tropical Fish Tank

After more than a month researching and then finally completing the 'Add and Wait' Fishless cycle - I added my first batch of fish at the weekend - thought I had messed it up with adding too many fish at one time but was under the impression that my fishless cycle would be able to manage so many fish going in at the same time - the majority of them are tetras and 2 pearl gouramis and I thought the cardinals would be hardier than neons [my first choice but opted to change beacause of advice I got from this excellent forum]. I also had a feeling that my 250ltr tank would handle it

I used to keep fish many years ago when I younger and at a time when fishless cycling and the keeping of good water was non-existant - throw in a carbon filter and bob's your uncle. I eventually had to give up the tank when I went to University and never picked up the hobby again until last year.

6 months ago I got a small tank and have two small calico goldfish in there and after researching the fish, realised I had made a big mistake in putting them in a small tank and decided to buy a bigger tank in November 2012. After purchasing the tank, getting it set up and starting the fishless cycle I decided I wanted to get tropical fish for this tank and bought another 120ltr tank for my two lovely calicos - going to start fishless cycle of this tank in a few days.

Despite having fish many years ago, I consider myself a novice at fishkeeping and look forward to many years of enjoying and caring for fish. I love the peaceful community that I have in the tank - all the tetras are doing really well and a joy to watch. The two pearl gouramis are doing well - beautiful fish - only thiing is the male has a smaller tentacle/fin than the other - looks as if its growing back in but don't know if it's permanent - also prchasing a floating plant for them too - I feel there#s too much light in the tank.

Water stats have remained the same over the last week and so pleased that I did the fishless cycle.

Here's the first batch of photos for you to look at - I've still got some more plants to purchase and more big pebbles/stones to add height to the hardscape of the tank.

Suggestions, thoughts, ideas and advice always welcome

I would consider also adding some bogwood to the aquarium as well.
