Thanx tear!tear-scar said:Based on your fish, I have some suggestions.
1st tank: You have an angel, and angels really like tall vertical folliage to swim amongst. I would suggest getting that tank a lot of valisneria, you angel will love you for it.
2nd tank: This tank has a lot of top dwellers (danios, and gourmis), I'd recommend getting some floating plants, as top dwellers really appreciate th shade created by floating plants. A strong male gourami will want to make bubble nests in the roots of the floating plants. Just remember that floating plants need good air movement above the water, so if you use a hood it has to have lots of vents. You can use water cabbage, popular for ponds; or the ever popular riccia (see my riccia diary in the planted tank forum). My suggestion is to use Water Sprite. It's a readily available plant, as it grows fast and is a great back-ground plant when planted submerged as a back-ground plant, and is interesting since it has 2 leaf types. The submerged plant, in good water, will have spiny leaves. Close to the surface though, it will grow larger leaves. What most people don't know is that if a plantlet is cut from the main plant with the larger leaves, it makes a great floating plant as water sprite also grows roots from its stem to collect free floating nutrients. I've planted water sprite as a floating plant in my 5 gal, and it's beautiful. Once established as a floating plant, the sprite starts to send out horizontal runners until it covers as much of the surface as it can. Just cut it back once in a while. you can get a bunch of water sprite and use it to create both the back-ground and floating area.![]()
