its looking great... although isent your "moss" riccia?. it looks like it to me... (riccia is a form of liverwort. moss is a moss.)

but the tank looks really good. even better when it grows in a little

that looks great!
this is somewhat how i want my tank to look at the finish

sorry for the noob questions but how did you go about this?
co2 or non co2? do you vac the gravel etc?

thanks

Sand substrate, dose ferts - green low 5 mil daily, co2 is a low tech yeast set up , via airstone running 24/7 .
25 % water change and vac weekly. Easy with sand as pop and gunk stays on top. That's about it!

I also think your 'Moss' is Riccia. When dosing EI ferts you need to be doing 50% water changes once a week to reset the values in your tank.

Other than that, it'safantastic start pal, keep it up! :)

I also have some flame moss, you can just see it on a slate to the left amongst the swords , behind the coconut cave it's going pretty mad and new shoots sprouting all over the place.
Both Ricca and flame moss was purchased from Green MAchine and was of stunning quality.

Another question at what point do I remove the cotton holding the moss and ricca down? Or just leave it to grow through and cover over?

leave it for the riccia... its got no roots so it cant attach itself... moss can but you may as well leave the cotton on ... u wont see it in afew weeeks

moss has small roots. thats why it can attach itself after awhile

No mate, Moss doesn't have roots. It is common in the garden due to poor drainage, moist/damp/wet conditions and poor maintenance (for a lawn etc) It can often thrive if not addressed and spreads like wildfire. Cushion Moss especially.

find something new out every day =]
