My New Tank - Substrate - Going Today To Get It!

I'm setting up my new tank today and need to know - do I need some cactus soil or similar or will 5 mm gravel be ok?

depends what you want,

you can have a peat substrate through to sand, or coarse to fine gravel, personal perference really. I much prefer gravel of the 3-4mm variety as its much easier to clean than sand etc.
