My New Cichlids From Oddball Express

another trip today to Oddball express and i came home with more than i went for. again.........

those that are following my Cichlasoma Ornatum journal these will come as no suprise. here they are still in the bag 4 new arrivals.

i also spotted this Archocentrus centrarchus in a mixed tank and couldnt resist currently about 5 inches or so

last weeek when i went i bought home this Nicaraguanese Cichlid that ive not been able to get a decent pic of yet. i think its a male

and not from Oddballs but a new addition is one of stars baby Rotkeil Severum

I think from the blue tinges to the nic's face in the first pic, that might be female.

those new ornatums look good matt. the 1 at the front you can deffinately see some of the green coming through on the gill plates , and the 1 at the back has some nice colour coming through on the dorsal fin. looking good already mate , just wait till they settle in , should look fantastic . ......... now just get em breeding so we can all have some fry

never seen a centrarchus before . is it central american? either way nice fish

altogether now and that nic looks bonny as well
mrs biffster loves nic's she is on about keeping them
again. Cichlasoma Ornatum are you hoping for a pair

yeah its a cracking fish when not in a bag quite a rare cichlid from central america. heres a link to a site about them

ive now got 6 Ornatums and they are the last ones available in the UK unless a private seller sells one.... if i can get a pair then ill be over the moon but im a long way off that as they are only about 1.5 inches at the minute.
if i get no pairs then the tank stocking for the future is 6 x ornatums, 1 x EBJD and whatever i can mix with them. maybe some JD's

yeah they are easy enough to get hold of but i wanted to see how this one coped as they are apparently a weak strain of JD and quite a few dont make it. normal JD's are stunning when adult and in full colour too.

of JD and they were really aggressive
to anyone who came near the tank
they used to nut the tank trying
to get at people i tried to buy them off
him but he wouldn't sell them that
was a few years back a real stunning
