My New Betta's Journey

So, You all know how much I adore Oliver. I decided to get another Betta, because I have fallen in love with them. My new one however, must be unique! (As Oliver isn't exactly a unusual colour..Don't tell him I said that.)
So, I start with a tank!
 

 
As usual, the images are massive due to my laziness to open Photoshop. This is my tank (With some added rounded gravel.)
 

 
And here's my tank looking slightly more tank-like. With Filter and Heater.. Oh, and water.
 

 
And here's the final product, one lovely fitted out Betta tank.
I plan to add some sort of cave-like feature, as Oliver is obsessed with his ornament for hiding in.
 
On Friday, I will be going to chose the Betta! o: Out of a pick of 25 different ones!!
So, This shall be updated then ~ ~ ~

Looks great!  What size tank is that anyway?  My son has a Betta tank that looks to be of similar proportions that's called a 3 gallon cube, even though the math says it's closer to 4 gallons.
 
I love the river rock substrate & the plants.  My only suggestion would be to move the white rocks to one side as it looks a bit too symmetrical the way they are.

If you are choosing the betta this Friday, is the tank already cycled?

The tank has been up and running since last wednesday
We often do fish-in cycles. My last fighter - Oliver - HAD to be moved immediatly, and thus went in straight after the tank was set up.
I'm keeping an eye on water levels and such, and wont add a betta unless it's completely safe (even if it does mean another trip to town.)
 
As for the rocks - I ran out and only had two left, I plan to add a third - dont worry!

Why not do a fishless cycle though? It's far better to not submit the fish to constant ammonia and it is significantly easier.

From where I live, getting ahold of Betta is a once every two-three month thing. I wouldn't like to wait for the next batch.

UPDATE:
The batch of 25 arrived as a batch of 3..
And due to me working, I've reserved a Betta via a description from over the phone lol!
It's going to be a Turquoise standard tail Betta, with red streaks on its body.
 
I'm very interested to see what it's going to look like.

And today, I sent mother to fetch the new Betta.
I was at work for the whole day, so was buzzing to get home and meet him!
 
This is Sinbad, my lovely new Betta - who is slightly on the scrawny side, but plenty energetic.

Very nice looking Betta, your Sindbad! They are all so uniquely beautiful, it makes it difficult to choose!
 
I don't know if this fourm supports this practice but what if you were to take some of your cycled filter's media and add it to the new tank, you can also rinse any sponge filter part from your cycled filter in front of the water intake of the filter in your new tank. This would help "seed" the new filter with beneficial bacteria. Only do this though if you know that the other tank is healthy!

I think it's a good idea to also keep an eye on the other tank's levels if you are taking some filter material from it, just to be sure!
