I’m new to the fish keeping world.. We have just added 2x electric yellows and 2x blue dolphin cichlids to our aquarium..
Is anybody able to tell me the sex of my two dolphins going off the anal fins?
I’ve attached a picture.

How big are the Cyrtocara moorii (blue dolphins)?

Has your tank/s filter been cycled yet?
If not, keep the feeding down to a couple of times a week, and monitor the ammonia and nitrite levels. If you get any ammonia or nitrite, do a 75% water change and gravel clean the substrate.
Make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it's added to the tank.

Hey Colin,

The dolphins are about 5cm, the breeder kept them in a dark environment and our tank is pretty lit.

The tank was freshly cycled and ready for fish.. We have been testing the water ever 2nd to 3rd day which we will continue to do..

Probably a bit young to sex at this stage.

One has a damaged anal fin, and the other could be a female, but they are still small so might need a few months of good food before they mature.

Ok thanks for the advice.. I thought that one may have had a damaged fin.. will feed them some good food and see how we go.. around about what is a good age to sex these guys?

when they are about 4 inches long they can be sexed pretty accurately.
