I bought two silver mollies and two dalmation mollies yesterday, and by the evening a molly had given birth. What do I do? I'm a beginner, have only had my tank for 4 weeks. I couldn't see any of the baby fish this morning.

hi,
a couple of things you could do,
if you have room in your tank you could hang a breeding net, scoop up the fry and feed them in there,
or let them grow in your main tank to give them a chance, plant the tank up a bit, some floating plants would give them cover from the top.i feed mine crushed up good quality flake,as small as you can until it looks like powder, hth good luck with the fry expect your next batch in 4-6 weeks.

spaceagehero,

I know exactly what you are going through, I have a 10 gallon tank and my first bred. I had nine fry now I have 12 and maybe more because they hide in my substrate so well.

Watch them, I have found out that fry can be very entertaining and their antics are closely relatied to kids sometimes, no kidding there. It's a lot of fun, but can be overwheleming with how many you can get.

Have fun with them. I am still learning too.

Hi,

Please read the pinned topics in the livebearer section, these will answer any questions you may have. Since you can't see any babies today the parents may have eaten them, you'll have more babies as they give birth every 4 weeks even without a male present.

Emma :)

Thanks Emma. I'm popping to the pets store after work to buy a breeding net. My girlfriend may buy a small tank to help too. This is brilliant though, I'm so excited!
