a couple months ago i got a yellow balloon mollie she was a really great fish cos she followed my finger up and down the glass a couple weeks after i brought her i went to feed her and i found five baby fish in her tank 4 light coloured ones and one black one i reckon the light fish were racist cos they didn't hang around with the black fish a couple weeks after they were born the black fish turned white so i decided to call him michael jackson and named the rest after the jackson five

My dalmation molly had babies too! She has 7 but she is already pregnant again! I am thinking about donating her to a LFS because I can't keep having a whole load of fry in my 30 gallon. All of her babies appear to be white with tiny black specs so I assum they are all dalmations, but I'm not sure. Afterall, it doesn't matter if they're black or white.

They will probably change color as they grow. Most fry are darkish in color when born but gradually change as they grow older.

I have also noticed the same phenomenon in my tank....the blacks stick to their own kind but dont mind colored females The black males drive away any other colored males but dont seem to mind blacks. Strange
