My lfs said one can hold fire bellied newts

The title is pretty self-explanatory. I was thinking about getting a fire bellied newt, but decided against it becuase I don't have a tank that will house it when it gets full grown. Anyway, my lfs said one can hold and pet fire bellied newts. Is this true?

For a short while yes you can but it is akin to holding a bird in that the pet will not be happy. You can hold an armoured cat fish for an hour before it starts to go but it is not a good idea.
