My Heater exploded!!!

Ok, I filled the tank after putting in the gravel etc. I put in the heater and turned it on then POOF (lol) it cracked! Any explinations as i have only 1 more of these heaters spare from the kit i got off my dads mate.

Was the water too cold, i was told to add warm water as well to even the water temperature.

just make sure to leave the heater in the water and unplugged for about 15-20 minutes before you plug it in

cheers left it in the water a bit longer with the other 1, working fine now thanks guys!

Always unplug it before messing with it in water clint ,don't want you blowing up to

I've done the same thing, a fish of mine got trapped in a filter and I was in a hurry. I pulled the heater out and forgot to switch it off, by the time I put it back in it was so hot that it shattered when it hit the water. Glad to hear you've sorted it out.

Well just gotta buy a new heater as i got two 3ft by 1ft tanks (see newbies intro) then just gotta decide what exact fish i want! Pics coming soon! lol
