I have a beautiful red betta named Arthur who has come down with a case of fin rot in his anal, tail, and pelvic fins while I was on vacation and had a friend watching him. I know it is because of bad water because he was living with three baby female guppies. He normally lives with a school of bleeding heart tetras, 4 cory cats, 2 male swordtails, and 4 danios in a 20 gallon tank and has never been bothered by the other fish until recently. One of the fish took a nip out of his tail. It was very minor so I told my friend to move him to my 10 gallon guppy tank with the three baby girl guppies. They are not small enough to become lunch. None of the guppies were affected by fin rot but I treated their tank as well and placed arthur in a 5 gallon tank by himself. His fins are as short as a female's. Will they ever grow back?

Here you can see what he looked like before and after I left.

Yes. My VT boy had a case of fin rot, though not as severe as Arthur's seems to be, and after he was treated, the fins began to grow back. He looks perfectly normal now. Good luck treating Arthur!
