Everytime I breed angels, their eggs never hatch. At a Auction in Sept. I picked up 5 angels to give it another try. What size do you think they will pair off at? They are fairly large atm. Here is a video.

From what i remember, they are at breeding size, but I am not certain.

The tank is a 30g. Once they pair off the others will be moved into a 47g tank and then sold. The water stats:

NitrAte: 10
NitrIte: 0
Ammonia: 0
pH: 8.4
kH & gH : Not discernable

There are also 3 cories in the tank.

Well my male is about 4" female is 3" they were even smaller then that when they started to pair up or acted like a pair. at 3" they should pair up. My pair is my first angel fish ever. Maybe your pair was same sex? it happens. Mine have spawned 5 times for me since I got them and the first 2 or 3 times many eggs turned white. They were too young the 4th time to get it right eggs hatched but got eatten.. Now I'm on my 5th spawn and I have 3 day old fry in my breeding tank.

No, I have had several different pairs of angels. I even had a trio (hard to believe, but I witnessed it with my own two eyes), and none of their eggs would ever hatch.

YOu could have been unlucky and had a same sex pair it happens. Or they were too young. Could be the water flow in the tank was too strong for the sperm to get to the eggs. Or they eat the eggs? OR the fish you get are not fertile and that happens if fish are very inbreed or given too many hormones.

good luck

I know what the egg tube looks like. There have been definite males and females. They have fertilized them, as they will be a yellow green color, and though they constantly fanned them (they wouldn't even leave them for food), and i added Methylene Blue and another fungus inhibitor, they would still go bad. I was under the assumption that maybe it was the high pH that they live in. But then, i had a pair of firemouths breed recently. So I am thinking that may not be true.

I never said you don't know what the tubes look like. Just trying to help give you ideas why a spawn might not take.

I was not accusing you of saying that. I was stating that I knew, therefore enabling me to sex the fish to ensure a male and female pair.
