Well I got tired of having my 2 males split in a 10g tank, they're always flaring at each other which couldn't be good for them. So I bought another 2.5g tank and took my female out of the other one and put her into the 10g undivided.

Shes a sweetheart and has always come wigglying to the front of any tank since the day I got her. I added 3 yellow/black tux platys to the tank, along with an apple snail and a few mts..

Fish wise this tank is fully stocked, correct?
I know the mts will bread like nuts but I'll toss those into the 55g cichlid tank :) I don't mind that one being covered in em. :hey:

I'm not clear if you have all the bettas in one tank?? BAD idea which it sounds like you know and BAD idea to have male and female together. Now--as for the platys......I took in a rescue who got nipped to ribbons by neon -Mickey Mouse-platys. So keep close watch and have a backup plan. Those platys are cute but they are all over the place and into everything, starting little tiffs etc. so be careful. Yes, it does sound a bit overpopulated in there.

Ahhh. I meant that the males are in their own 2.5g tanks while the female is in the 10g with the snails and platys. The platys and female beta aren't even paying each other attention. I got 1 male platy and 2 females, that'll keep them busy hopefully.

That's pretty good stocking for the 10 gallon. :good: You can add one more female platy for that male, if you want. :hey:

i agree here. though i can't say much about stocking as my tanks are "overstocked" and the fish all seem happy to me.

(instead of making a new topic)
A single female Betta would be fine with a few Platies?
Thinking about a similar setup for my 10 gal.

I believe it really depends on your females attitude. Some females are just as bad, if not worse than males with fighting tank mates. My female is extremely peaceful. She just minds her own business and plays in the filters bubbles.
You can't really find fish more peaceful than platys so I picked them. Get them in groups of three, 1 male and 2 females to a group. That way they don't pick on each other and they're livebearers. They'll have babies monthly for sure. They're so cute.
I also have 1 apple snail in the tank. I've heard of some bettas not liking snails but mine doesn't even pay any attention to it. My apple snail is also extremely active 24/7 which I find is odd.. They're supposed to be pretty dead during the day. I also put in a palm full of trumpet snails. They're gonna multiply like crazy but I'll dump some in my 55g then sell tons on ebay. They breed so fast and go for 25 of em for a good $10+ on ebay. Easy money considering they multiply in the hundreds months, if not 1000+.

i used to have so so so so so many trumpet snail if your talking about the malaysian livebearing snails. there were so many the gravel always looked like it was moving, as it was with so many snails but they also helped keep the gravel clean so i kept them and threw alot to my clownloaches every so often.

:good:
