Hello, I really could use some advice. I am moving from VA to FL and it's about a 14 hour drive. To transport my fish, I was going to do this - Get a 5 gal Home Depot paint bucket (never used bucket). Put the fish in there with exisiting tank water and a couple of the artifical plants (about 3 gallons of water). I'll be doing this on Thursday, and I depart Tuesday morning. Thursday, I have to clean the tank out and get it ready for the moving truck on Friday. While they are in the bucket, I'll do daily partial water changes and monitor the chemistry. I have 2 battery-powered pumps and new air stones. Once I seal the bucket, the water won't leak out. I'll have 2 holes on the lid for the tubes. As far as how many fish I have, I have about 15 small tropical fish. The largest fish is my Gourami's (2) which are about 2" big. I wish I had some friends who had a tropical tank, but I don't and these fish are my 4 year olds and I really want them to survive.

Any help would be grealy appreciated.

Though I don't know if this is the kind of help you are looking for, I am in Florida, and depending on what area you are going to, I might be of help if you need it.

If theres anything I can help you with, just let me know. :good:

Thanks for the reply! I'm moving to the panhandle. Currently, I have my father setting up a tank right now to be there on the receiving side. He hasn't had a tank in years, and I have a feeling I won't get my fish back once they are in his tank. ;)

Oh, ok, I'm probably of no use anyway (Ganiesville area here) but I thought I would offer! ;)

Best of luck with your trip! :)

I live in florida too. Are you moving near tallahasse? mIf your dad is setting up a tank i would put each of your fish and your filter material or bio-whell in an individual bag and then put all the bags into a cooler or styrofoam box. They should be good for the car ride and then make sure to acclimate them well in the new tank.
:D
