Hi there, ive just ordered 2 moss balls from ebay for my community tank, but more specifically for my shrimp, and to help combat algae
Ebay Link
Im just wondering what people would recommend as to 'curing' it, making sure there is no transfer of any unwanted hazardous bacteria, or even snails!

Would soaking in some warm tap water for a day help at all? If not whats my best option?

Thanks Guys!

It won't help combat algae as it is algae!!! It will take in nutrients much more slowly than plants will hence the slow growth of it. However it will not entice algae.

Just rinse it to take off anything that may be in there before putting it in the tank.

Thanks AC
It actually arrived in the post about 5 minutes ago, and considering i only ordered it on thursday night it didnt expect it to arrive so fast.
I certainly wasn't aware it was a type of algae, but at the moment we have had a problem in my tank with greenish water, which means lights off more often, water changes daily, and the introduction of more live plants. And this moss of course for my shrimp!
Cheers

Dont know why i didnt try wiki!
Ive put it in and a few of my shrimp have had a climb on it already!
