Moss And Algae

Well I have some java moss in my aquarium. I have part of it as a carpet and another part attached to driftwood (stuck into a crack and I am letting it grow out. mty problem is is that the carpet plant I am not really having problems with algae in it but the piece coming off the driftwood is turning brown which I know ot is not dieng but is just brown algae. how do you prevent algae in plants that have leaves stuck close together and is that common for close leafed plants.

Shrimp normally, they are great at getting into close packed plants

Ya I am just worried because I have a dwarf gourami and dont want it to eat my amanos I had 3 but only saw to molts a while back
