My daughter brought home a pregnant mosquito fish. We have given her an aquarium with lots of plants, made sure her water temp is around 78. We have had her over a month now and while her belly has enlarged and the black spot have become larger as well she still has not give birth. I can't find too much information about how to help her be more comfortable or help her have the babies. I have find they have life births, how many she can have, and how long she can be pregnant. I'm at a lose of what to do.

Mother Nature will take care of her. She should be very close.

Yes, multiple livebearers are called mosquito fish. But to ichthyologists, only the Gambusia affinis and Gambusia holbrooki may be called mosquito fish.
Mosquito fish may have a gestation period of 4-6 weeks. If such a female is not feeling too comfortable in the tank, she might hold the fry of delivering. Worst case → the female can even absorb the unborn fry. Absorbing the unborn fry won't harm the female, btw.
