Modifying Light Unit While Still On Timer?

I have a 6 tube pendant light over my tank.
It has 2 switches, one which switches on 4 tubes and one for the other 2.

Now i usually run 3 tubes (take one out of 4) during the day on a timer.
I would like to have one blue tube run for an hour or so after lights out (and before if easy).
Is there any way i could do this easily?
The light only has 1 plug on it so can only really use 1 timer

Any help is appreciated

Without modyfying supply into the unit, that will be difficult. What is your level of electrical competancy? I can tell you how to do it, but mains electricity can be iffy, so you need to know how to handle electricity to modifty the unit safely

ooh well im pretty capable with dc electricity but havent done a whole lot in ac. if you can give me some instructions or something then i will read them and see if i can do it or not before i actually attack it

A very good warning above.

To give instructions, I will need photos of the inside of the unit, to see the balast lay-out and then quide you through sorting out the correct power lines into the unit. A disclaimer though, if you choose to follow any directions I post, you do so at your own risk, and I accept no responcibility if it goes wrong or breaks the unit (Just covering myself incase...) This will include dismanteling the unit for the photo's
