Mixing cichlids and barbs

I have a 37 Gallon tank with...

4 Tiger Barbs
2 Rosy Barbs
3 Ozola Barbs (Tiger Barilius)
2 Bleeding Heart Tetras

After my tank is finished cycling I'd like to keep my barbs (especially the tiger barbs, i love them).
What are some not too huge (but colorful) cichlids that could co-exist with my tiger barbs? I'm under the impression the tiger barbs could hold their own with some cichlids, just wondering which ones would be best. thanks!

1 single convict and 1 single firemouth, hows that fer starters.

anyone else have any ideas about what cichlids to mix with the barbs?

some other people told me Apistogramma's / Dwarf Cichlids. I can't find too much information on them.

and i hear Convicts have quite a reputation for aggressiveness. Could the tiger barbs hold their own?

We got 5 Bahia Reds in with 5 tigers and all seem to be doing great

is there another name for a Bahia Red? I've been looking for information/pictures of them and I can't find any at all.

Don't know about last question....

....but you could look at some of the dwarf cichlids eg. kribs, rams etc.
