Hi.
Got a pair of cacotouides last week, and they're stunning, the LFS i got them form had lots of Agazzizi too, and i don't really want to miss the chance of getting some, would they mix? or would i need a new tank? if they were to breed i would not allow the eggs to hatch so thats not a worry :good:

Unless you have a really large tank I don't think it is a good idea to
have more than a pair, or harem, of Apisto's.
They are naturally territorial and would most likely show considerable
aggression to each other - they will tolerate other bottom dwellers though.

am I correct in saying that you have a 50 US gal tank?

If so, then I think you could get a pair of agazzizis but ensure there are lots of plants and hiding places.

Hi.
its a 24"x24"x18", 24" floor space.
Not sure how it works out in US gallon's though.
My Cacotouides are quite peacefull, not really shown much aggression

Tank calculater < worth inputting your sizes in here.

We'd need to know the exact size, as apistos are territorial, mixing species shouldn't be an issue, as long as the tank is big enough

Well i'm keeping agassizi and cacatouides in the same tank, 110 litres, 36 x 12 x15 inches.

I have the tank seperated down the centre by plants, and the two species have inhabited either side of the tank. Seems to be working as of the moment.

I could certainly split the tank with plants, i think i'm going to give it a go, possibly collect another female cacotouides first to lower aggresion levels between the two species when i get the agazzizi pair. :good:

Sounds good. be prepared to maybe rehome them if it doesn't work, mine is still in the early stages and so far *touch wood* it's running smoothly.

like i sid I have the tank split down the centre, with equal numbers of hidey holes and plants either side so they can't really argue over it.
I've heard that apisto's keep a radius of 30cm as their territory if they're breeding, so aslong as there's more than that between them, should be fine I reckon :good:

Hi.
Yeah i'm gonna get some of the giant vallis and split it diagonally, and hopefully it will overhang once it grows enough to make them feel extra secure

my apistos love the giant valis I have, it's good stuff.

Also, if your LFS sells broken roof tiles, they make for good decoration and caves, if not, then a local garden centre or something similar

My caves were pilferred from local beach rock pools *whistles innocently*

They were originally in my marine tank, once I gave up on that I figured i'd just clean them and reuse them. Recycling see

I've got a couple of peicies of boggwood screwed together, and a nice broken terracotta pot as hides, their are 2 mollies, a pair of keyholes, and several horsefaced loach also in the tank :good: :good:
