Misunderstanding Plecos

I have.

I bought one for my 10g tank last time, when i was new to this. I think almost everyone at one point thinks that plecos are a must have to keep tanks clean.

Unfortunately, that pleco died...

I've bought one, assuming it would eat algae.....which it does but never that it would eat poop

me too i thought it would take care of the algae but no. It only eats whatevers on the rocks. i bought the cat fish for the cleaning

My lfs doesn't sell plecs, so I didn't have the chance to be misguided.

No. I read on here that otto's are better before I bought anyone for cleaning duty

When I first started, with a 10 gal, WalMart sold me one and I thought they would eat ANYthing. I soon learned they wouldnt, and also that they didnt do well in a 10 gallon! But my little pleco I have now is so spoiled, I don't think he eats anything besides the little pellets I feed him.
