Missing Scales

My boy has a patch of scales missing between his eyes. I’m not sure what happened as i've been away. He is acting normal, eating and active ect. Any ideas on what this can be? There is no white growth, bloody patchers ect. His only tank mate is a snail. Thanks in advance

Are you sure he is missing them, and they aren't ust a different color?


Some of my bettas have scale imperfections, my bet is that it is normal.

No definatly missing them, I Can see the membrane.

I left for a couple days and now my betta fish is missing some scales on his back.. and he looks like he's a different color too. Anyone know whats wrong?

Possibly the beginning of a bacterial ulcer or fish TB (one sign of fish TB is missing scales). Check out these links for more info.

Check at your local LPS. I know minocycline is the only med that has a chance at fighting TB, so you may need to look specificaly for that. I have heard of people soaking food in tank water with a disolved tablet to help get some of the meds inside of the fish.
