missing fish

lately one of my platty fish looked really ill and sad. 2 day i looked inside the tank and wasn't there when we cleaned out the tank we lifted the ornaments jhe wasn't there. but he coudn't have been eaten as he was one of the biggest fish in the tank . do you think he might of floated to the top of the vase where we can't see him or tangled up in a plant somewhere???dead because i've lost all hope of him being alive

Is your tank a well estiblished tank?
Was the fish suffering from anything you could of seen like fungus or fin rot?
Whats your water chemistry like ammonia, nitrite and nitrate like?

Have you all areas like inside the filter?

Are you sure he didn't jump out and laying on the carpet somewhere?

How large is your tank? I'm a bit concerned you said vase....

Keep looking for him, as you don't want a dead rotting fish in your tank

Its likely your fish is dead and its importent to find it as it will spoil your water. Its unlikely it jumped out as platy's are good jumpers.
Take everything out of the tank until you find it.

i looked EVERY where even behind the filter took out all decoration.shaked the plants he's not there?abd he couln't of jumped out because he would of had to jump through tiny cracks on glass and wood!!! any other ideas

check your filter, check inside every ornament, look for remains on the plants. depending on what else you have, even if they are smaller fish, they could have picked him pretty clean overnight , i've discovered the leftover "bits" before....... i've also found them in my filters intake tube or in the filter itself......

what other fish do you have. its not impossible for even small fish to strip a carcass clean. what do you mean by vase?

we found him!!!!in the sneakyest place ever he must of got trapped under the plant pot then died . he was found tangled in roots behind ornaments. My brother tried to take him out but it just fell too little pieces but now all of him is out. i was wondering when i can get my next set of fish as we were plnning today but we didnt go cos we thought we better wait until we know a bit more in fo so help pleaseeeeeeeeeeee!
