Is there a general guideline for pumps in a marine tank or just aquariums in general like howmany litres per second per liter in the aquarium and what is an acceptabel time for 1 complete cycle of all the water like if it is a 200litre aquarium how long should it take for 200litres of water to be proccesed.

its not really how much should be filtered, its how much flow do you have. A general marine tank pretty much only needs 3 things, saltwater, live rock, and flow, if you have those 3 things you can have a saltwater tank. With normal powerheads (ideally not the way to go) you probably want 15+ turnover (fish only) 20-30 turnover (softie corals and maybe an lps or two) 30+ turnover (hard corals). With stream powerheads you would want more flow, maybe add 5x turnover for each one. But stream powerheads is something you do want to go with.

I was going with the standard rio 125 power head which is the 600 will this be ok or will i need the 1000

IMO, standard rio's stink. Are you going FO, or are you planning on any corals?

look into they hydor koralias and the tunze stream pumps, i know they seem expensive at first and you need more flow from them, but they are energy efficient (like 10 watts for 1000 gph) and they give a wide flow, wild reefs pretty much only have wide flow, there is no pencil like current (with exceptions, like the EAC :p). Or you could mod a maxi-jet 1200, it wont be as energy efficient as the hydors and tunze, but they work the same way and give a nice good amount of flow.

i am getting a second hand fluvel 304 external will this be enough or will i also need to use the internal filter as well?
(can i have an answer for this question for both FOWLR and Reef plz as i am not shure yet)

Just answered this on your other thread - might be better to add your questions to just one thread in future Robert, otherwise answers are being duplicated and folks don't need to waste time saying what's already been said.

... the other thread!
