Thereabouts a month ago I posted this topic "Slow Motion Guppy" and a month before that posted about a guppy with a red line. Well.... I have been watching my guppies (all male tank) carefully since and they have been doing well.... but... I've noticed a slight change in one of them and am fearing it might be the beginning of another "slow motion guppy"... he is lively and active... but I noticed that when he swims by the spouts from the filter that his tail blows up and he momentarily loses control of his position. This is not normal.

So.... with my history.... do you think this is the beginning of something to worry about? The last time, I treated my tank with Anti Internal Bacteria medication and hoped that it cleared it up (the slow motion guppy died).

Does he lose position when he's not near the filter. Unable to maintain balance in the water?
His tail looks like it's weighing him down in the water?
Is he able to get off bottom of tank and top OK?

Does he lose position when he's not near the filter. Unable to maintain balance in the water? No, so far its only when passing the filter... but the filter hasn't caused his tail to blow upwards before... so it got me worrying as that is what happened with Mystery when he was all slow motion.

His tail looks like it's weighing him down in the water? Hmmm, I think no, him and 1 other have tails that do hang the very slightest bit more downwards than the others but not in an amount that seems abnormal to me.
Is he able to get off bottom of tank and top OK? Yes, he is doing all other things perfectly fine.

Is that me just being paranoid since monthly I seem to have a problem with them?

Also, in case its relevant, as I know males do seem to droop with age, he was born April 5, 2012, so he is about 7 months old.

It sounds like the current of the filter just blowing his tail up. My guppys used to love going into the current. It does make the fish
off balance.

Feed some peas.
When the tail seems to be weighing the fish down in the water it can be swim bladder.

Good Luck.

I used to worry. So I do know how you feel.

I'm thinking I may have overreacted. Which is good... as he's seems to have stopped doing it. Then I thought he was hanging out by the heater so I started watching (from across the room since none of them behave normally with my face pressed against the glass!) but he seems to be swimming around just fine.

By the way, Wilder, are you any good at figuring out platies? I posted in Livebearers about trying to figure out what my platies are doing... as they appear to be having flashing as a behavior as I can't figure out what else it could be.
