Marineland 400 and Penguin 350 bio wheels ?

What can be done to keep these wheels turning like they should be? These have been around a long time
and used fresh & salt water. I see looking all over the internet I think I am finding more pros than cons. would like feedback on these two filters concerning the Bio Wheels stop turning. feedback greatly appreciated

I used one of those for about 5 years (total guess) it was about 10 years ago when I took it off. I can't remember why I got rid of it, I want to say it was working, but became very loud. I prefer the aquaclear filters for the hang on back type.

I never had problems with the wheel spinning. Is the spray bar still spraying correctly? Other than cleaning gunk out of where the wheel spins or replacing the wheel itself I cant say much.

One of mine doesn’t turn any longer. I still use it. The wheels just hold extra bacteria. My other one has been working for 2 years with no issues. Weird.

So does the spray bar work and spray the wheel at the correct angle?

Does the wheel spin freely by hand?
