Would it be cheaper to buy a new marine set-up than convert my old one? I noticed the post by guppy and thought it would cost way more than £170 to convert my old tank I only want a small set-up.

I would think you would be talking more than £170 to convert the tank. how big is the tank and what do you already have?

Lighting is a big cost aspect. Whether you want to do corals or FOWLR will affect the final cost tremendously.
