hi everyone. i have just purchased a 530 litre tank for use as a marine tank. it just came with a tank and stand. What i really need to know is to keep it as a natural tank with live rock how much would i need of live rock & live sand. also would i need a certain heater, pump, protein skimmer and how many powerheads for that size of tank as it is quite large. i would really appreciate it if there any pro's out there who may be able to help me.... thankyou.. kelly

The million dollar question before we start trying to answer, is;

What do you want to keep?

In marine tanks, you speck your hardware arround your stocking plans, as many things have special requirements as regards to the set-up. You wouldn't like to spend a load of cash just to find that your set-up just won't suit the fish you whish to keep :nod:

Your a fully validated member, so scroll down to the aformentioned section (it's towards the bottom of the main page where you see all the different boards listed) and enter it by clicking on it ;) After that, add a new post to that section in the same way you added this post to this section :good:

When it comes to what you want, think do you want corals? If so, Soft corals, Large Polyp Stonies or Small Polyp Stonies? Look in the marine tank section to get an idea of what each type looks like ;) You have to be careful about corals with puffer's mind, they tend to pip at them, doing damage. You may think a Fish Only With Live Rock type tank is more for you if you like Puffers :nod:
