Malfunctioning Heater?

So I have this heater and whenever the light comes on it makes some strange noises, and it does not seem to want to stay on? I contacted petsolutions about a return and they are going to refund me the money when I send it back to them, but my question is does any one here have some experience with it before I send it back out?

I didn't even know that such kind of heaters exist but my guess is that the strange noises come from a defect within the electronics. Probably a thyristor or something like that has gone.

Heaters should NEVER make noises. Any and all that do should be removed immediately. Heaters are not something to gamble with, failing heaters can lead to significant troubles for both livestock and aquarist.
