As far as I know they will fight a lot. Some people on here have had two males fight until one is virtually dead. Apparently they can be kept together if the tank is very large. Not sure though.
Usually you don't want to keep more then 1 male within a small tank area. I have seen mutiple male swordtails in the LFS tanks and there is usually one dominant male and the rest have their tales bitten down so the swords are no longer showing. Also you can tell when a male has had his swordtail chewn down because it grows back bent up or bent down it is no longer perfectly straight. So depending on your tank size I would not keep more then 1 male in the tank.
iv had four male swords in my us 34 gallon tank and never had much bother with them just a lot of posing nauntil the smaller ones backed down to my biggest one who has now died of old age and now the other 3 males dont really bother with each other so i tink they can be kept together
