Hi all.
How you all doing?

Been a long time since I been on here, well 4weeks - ish.

Can I ask, please...don't laugh.,.
How do you tell the difference between male & female.?
In fish.
I have 8 black phantom tetra & 8 rosy tetra fish, lovely little creature's.
Only had them in the tank now for nearly 2weeks.
But how can you tell the difference male & female.?

I red that the fins are ... & the colour of the .... is brighter.
But I can't tell.
As any of you folk got these fish & post us a picture of the male & female, please.
Thanks a lot.
Trik

For black phantom tetra
Adult males possess black fins of which the pelvic, dorsal, and anal are enlarged, while females are deeper-bodied and tend to have reddish pelvic, anal, and adipose fins.
For rosy tetra
Males develop extended dorsal and anal fins as they mature. They also tend to be larger, slimmer and a bit more colourful than females
Sources for both of those descriptions are www.seriouslyfish.com which is a good place to get info on tropical fish.

It is much harder to tell in young fish - and the fish we buy usually are young, so it may be a few months before you can reliably tell (or guess ;))

Good morning seangee / all.
Thanks for your reply.
IL take look over the link you say off.

Hope I have a mixed sex, I not going into the breeding thing, I wouldn't know what to do if I had loads of baby fishes.

Thanks for your reply again, & IL talk to you soon.
Have good day.
