Please could I be advised on the ideal ratios for:

Puntius rhombocellatus (snakeskin)
Desmopuntius pentazona (five band)
Oliotius oligolepis (checker board)
Pethia nigrofasciata (black ruby)

Many thanks

generally with barbs, its good to keep 1 male to 2-3 females.

Close to even ratio. When acquiring shoaling fish, I usually get a good number (varies, but maybe 9-10 or more if they are small sized and depending upon the tank). I have never had an issue with male/female ratios as they are juvenile when acquired and grow up together. My last barbs were a group of Pethia nigrofasciata, and as they developed I had 5 males and 6 or 7 females. The group was in a 90g tank, then moved to their own 33g. Over the course of the next years a number of fry managed to survive.
