I just picked up a used setup that included a Magnum 350 canister filter and I'm having some problems getting it to work. The motor seems to be running fine and I was able to start it and pull water in to fill the cannister but after I stopped, let the cannister fill and restarted it the water level dropped and it didn't seem to be doing anything. There was a trickle of water coming in, and it seemed like there may have been water being pushed out of the inlet tube at times.
I checked out the specs online after downloading the manual and it seems to be missing a gasket that goes on top of the carbon media container (which I have filled with ceramic bio-media). I'm assuming that is the problem but I don't want to order the gaskets and wait another week only to get them and see that it still doesn't work, have to order a new filter and wait yet another week to get the tank started.
Anyone out there know if my missing gasket would cause that sort of problem? I'm think it could because there is no seal and it is trying to pull water in and push it out at the same time on both tubes???
