Hi All

Im very new to the planted scene but find myself getting more drawn into it these days.

My tank is very low spec and 180l in size no CO2 just liquid ferts (API leaf zone once a week)

Small dorset pea gravel as substrate

Is there such thing as a good growing grass type plant that would do well in my set up im guessing no but thought i would ask?

Thanks in advance

Dwarf sag, Sagittaria subulata is wghat you want.

It won't make a really 'neat' lawn like you can do in a high tech set up; more like a lawn that's in desperate need of mowing, lol, but it's a good compromise in a low tech set up.

Here's how it looked in mine a couple of years ago;

Nice Tardis, fluttermoth...hehe!

carpking; have a look here http://www.tropica.com/en/plants/plant-list-a-z.aspx

I don't have much experience with growing a lot of different types of live plants/grasses but that site gives an indication of the difficulty of each of the plant's - hope that helps. I find the 1-2 Grow range really very good to work with!

thanks for the reply guys had a good look at the tropica website, it just made my head hurt

Echinodorus tenellus works. Its also like a grass type. Or you can try doing a java moss carpet

Thanks guys for the response's i do have another question can someone suggest a lighting plan for my tank i currently only have the lights on in the evening roughly 6pm - 10pm but im not sure if thats enough?

Currently in my tank i have 5 Anubias plants not sure what type they stand about 4" high and have the pointy leaves and also some frogbit

so should i have my lights on for longer?

Tanks 180l and pea gravel substrate my light are 2 x 18w T8 tubes but they may be 14w

thanks for your advise as you can see im new to this planted stuff
