Loose roots and leaves cause problems?

Hi all. Does any loose roots and floating leaves cause any problem in the tank or does it actually help? I just spent an hour removing any dead roots from plants and clearing a few loose leaves

I tend to remove floating debris (leaves and root bits) just for the appearance. But obviously this is organic matter and will decompose, and while that is not bad in itself it can become bad if in excess, depending upon the stocking (fish and plants), water volume, nutrients, light, etc. I wouldn't worry if the tank's biology is stable.
