Hi All,

Had my tank up and running now for a while with only fake plants. Thought i might try and add some live plants and see how it goes.
The tank holds 180 litres and has two T5 lighting tubes I think they are 24watt each. I currently have a black gravel substrate and a nice piece of drift wood in there. Ph is 7.4, Can anyone advise some easy low tec plants? Possibly some background plants would be good.
I have been reading the various guides and would not like to go down the Co2 road if possible.

Thanks,
The Reaper

Hi, could could try some good old favourites like
jungle vallisneria which is a nice tall plant for the background
then maybe some java fern to attach to your bog wood these plants are very hardy and will do well in low light there aree loads more just cant think of there names hope this helps a bit :)

I have 'normal' lighting and don't use CO2 or fets and all these plants grow well for me; vallis (the straight and the giant; I don't semm to be able to grow the twisted though), cryptocorynes, Java fern, anubias (but both of those need to be attached to rock or bogwood and not planted in gravel), xmas and Java moss.

Yep, all the above mentioned plants should do fine. I have the same tank setup as you and mine are going fine mate.
