Dear all

I have a tank which has been running for 3-4 weeks. Within my tank I have planted some Carolina Fanwort (Cambomba Caroliniana) plants. The plants have been in the tank for around 3 weeks now.

Over the last two days I have noticed long, thin strings growing from 3 of the plants - the strings dangle towards the gravel - the longest is about 3".

Is this normal? Does this indicate the plant is growing or worse, dying?

Your help is most appreciated.

Thank you

they could be roots.
if they are, if you cut halfway inbetween where they connect to the plant and the next set of leave stalks below it, you can replant the top bit and you have new plants :)

i have the exact same species in my tank, been in about 5 weeks and there are roots all over the shop, it grows like fury! I have to prune it every 3-4 days. The roots are pretty cool, as they hit my gravel substrate they form a sprial.
