Hey I was wondering if anybody knew of a good fish that can do well by itself that can also get along with my current fish in my 29 and stay at or under 4". Any ideas, I've become despareate now, I can't find one. :/

Thanks

Austin

You'll find bettas (Japanese Fighting Fish) do very well on their own as that's how they're mostly kept.

Also Tilapia Buttikoferi's although they grow to about 12-14".

Definitely (as suggested) a plec although they can be boring stuck to the side 20 hours out of the day. Having said that i will now happily contradict myself in saying that mine (Bruno) is extremely active for a Plec.

When you get your plec give it a chunk of fresh, peeled potato. He'll love you for it! Trust me! :good:

I recommend corys. I know that they need to have buddies, but I kept one alone and it is very happy. Very.

What about a dwarf gourami? Or any other small gouramy.

Bettas are not compatible with angels. He has a pair of angels in there. The betta would be toast.

Nothing that grows to 12 or 14 inches would be good in this tank!

i agree, a dwarf gourami or honey gourami would be nice and they both stay under 4". i would suggest the chocolate gourami, but they can be very sensitive to water conditions. i mean that they MUST be PERFECT for the chocolate ot survive. i don't know the tank or anything so i am going with just general info on this.

a pleco is another option, but make sure you get a species that stays small. that is the most important thing!

edit: just realized... a male betta might not be a good idea because it was said tha tyou have angels. i am guessing that the male's long fins would be nipped to shreds is why. so why not get a female betta. the fins are much shorter (like that of any other fish) and are great kept on their own and in community tanks!

A gourami sounds great for a single fish. Also instead of getting a single big pleco, you can add 2-4 more otos since you're 1 might be lonely.

Yes I have read the pleco list, I'm going to go threw it this weekend and print off all the names of ones that will fit in my tank and eat algae and take it to the petstore Monday when I go. I'd love to get some more otos but they don't eat my algae at all, I don't konw what they eat and I'd really like an algae eater and I spent 8$ plus tax on four of them and three died. Right now I don't have money to keep spending on them since they are finick fish. I know they like company but as soon as the guppies are gone I plan on making the 10 gallon a planted tank and putting otos in it. I might get a gourami I have to see what pleco I get Monday. Are there anyother fish out there though besides the ones you have mentioned, I already had thought of them but thanks.
