Can Clown Loaches go with any Corys Ithink they can cause there both peaceful. I have a 30 gallon tank with corys Zebra Danios, Black tetras, Platies. Can loaches go with corys?.

seen clowns in tanks with croys at a lfs in portsmouth, so i dont see why not!

30 gallon = about 90-120 liter (uk/us) and this is too little for botia macracanthus. If you check this site top of it: http://aquaweb.pair.com/LOACH/details.shtml , you'll see that the fish is 30cm long. How can you put this fish in such a small tank?? They need school too, min 3 fish (better 4-5 fish). If you going to buy 3 b. macracanthus you need to buy much more bigger aquarium. :)

Does Corys mean corydoras? If does: No, you cannot put them in same aquarium. WHY?? -> B. macracanthus has tend to eat other fish eyes - especially from corydoras.

Still most people keeps fish together - i wouldnt. Gerhard Ott (german, loaches specialist)) has warned about this and especially b. striata is a wicked fish.

i have'nt heard this, i keep clowns with corys, now i'm worried

so if they eat other fish eyes really they should be speices only fish then! or i am wrong!

As far as I'm aware there isn't a problem with clowns and corys.

Clowns grow slowly and can live for several years and rarley grow to 30cm in the aquarium. They are a great addition to any community set-up and should be kept in groups to see them at their best 4+.

If they do get too big after a few years then its time to get a bigger tank! :)

Enjoy :)

so if there is a problem like some suggest then why do lfs keep corys in same tanks or other fish!

mrv said about eyes but i disagree i dont see aproblem nor do lfs who sell them or have them on show with other fish!

Ohh....

I think mrV was suggesting that the loaches (not the corys) might be the problem - though I've not heard of this.

Watch out for the killer eye eating cory though! - lol

:)

Cories and loaches in your lfs are probably there no longer than a week. As far as keeping them together it's not a problem as long as you realise that both like company and loaches can grow to a fair size. Give them plenty room. Mac.

Hi

I keep both Albino and Peppered Corys in a tank with clown loaches and they get on fine no problems

speak soon

mrv said about eyes
I didnt, Gerhard Ott has warned about this and I read article when some hobbyist kept them together (b. macracanthus and corydoras sp.) and one of b. macracanthus rushed corydoras school and hobbyist saw after that episode that one of corydoras hasn't eye more. He saw this couple times. If i dont remember wrong, hobbyist has about 1000L tank, in where those fish were.

Yes, it's true, that some people keep them together and they haven't seen any problems, but i woudn't keep them together. Why take any risks?

Especially b. striata has been said to be real "bad" fish and it should be kept only on their own.

You should read books written by Gerhard Ott (he's a specialist in loaches). Only problem could be that his books are only in German - I think.

If they do get too big after a few years then its time to get a bigger tank!

How do you know, when its time to move fish into bigger tank? They grow slowly, but you must remember, that aquarium size affects growth of fish and especially when fish are young, water values and aquarium size is important.
