Loach sick

How big, is your tank, how long has it been running? What other fish are in it?

Also clown loaches have a weird behavior of laying on their sides, that kinda frightens new clown owners that arent used to it or have not heard of it.

My tank info is in my signature. I have had a temp drop from 26degrees to 24 due to cold weather, could this have done it???? The loach is swimming upto the heater and lieing on it....

The temperature change is definately a possibility, especially if the temp was at 26 for a while. I know it is usually said to change the temperture 2 degrese F. MAX a day, and your's has gone about 4 degreese.

Try turning the heater up to 25 or 26 and see if it helps.

Also, have you checked your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate? Your water chemistry can often affect how fish act.

My water is fine but i still did a 15% water change, i have also turned up the heater but still the loach is lieing there doing nothing... At times it moves and swims around but then goes staight back to the heater and lies there. :byebye:

Is the fish eating?

Did you buy the fish recently?

Have you ever kept it with more that one other Clown Loach?

BTW, the temp in my tank is flucuating from about 26 at night to 28 / 29 during the day due to the hot weather and this doesn't seem to be affecting mine, 24 however is pretty much the lowest temperature for Clowns.

I had the pair of loaches for maybe 2-3 weeks now. This morning they we both eating fine. My tank temp is slowly coming to the 26 degree make now , i think the loach is swimming abit better now  I will have to wait alittle longer i think to see if it pulls through.

One thing I would recommend is adding another 2 clowns to the group, assuming that theones you have are still small. I'm sure you know that they will outgrow your tank by a long way, but in the short term, small ones will be fine in there, but remember you are going to have to get a tank about 3 times the size of your current one to keep them healthy. I have kept Clowns as a pair, but they are MUCH happier in larger groups IME.

I have notice my loaches have little white looking spec's on their body... What could it be??? or do they generally look like that?

This is the best pic i could get of 1 of my loach, what does it look like?
