So I cycled my tank(fishless) and I've had a few cherry shrimp and a few rosy barbs for about 3 months now.

This weekend I was doing a water change and wiped down the inside glass. The next morning I woke up, switched on the light, and this is what I found:

they are the little white specs on the inside glass. And yes they are alive. I'm not sure if I should be worried about this or not? Any help would be greatly appreciated. There is a lot of them in there.

They look like planaria which are harmless , but its a sign that all is not right in your tank for them to be this many. They are usually found in large numbers in tanks where there is overfeeding and lots of uneaten food lying around, or the aquarium gravel is not hoovered accordingly, or when ammonia levels have risen.Check your water stats to see that they are correct.

To get rid of them make sure your water quality is good, cut down on your food and have a couple of really thorough gravel vacs twice a week and the problem should disappear.

Thanks for the input. I almost wonder too if it could be some sort of larvea that transferred into the tank from the cleaning sponge I used. Since they first appeared after I cleaned the glass with it. Maybe something dropped some eggs in it.

I'll keep an eye on my stats and hopefully they disappear.

Thanks again

Its not clear to me that Planaria would be able to show up in a photograph like that. Planaria are extremely tiny and wriggling and wormlike in appearance and you usually must really strain to see them, although they are for real when you focus in. They have no discernible texture from what I remember. WD
